Breast Cancer Awareness

Breast Cancer Awareness
I am also a supporter in the campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness
and the search for a cure. Recently my wife was diagnosed with Breast
Cancer
and this is unfortunately something that has changed our lives forever.
The shocking thing is that it was also preventable, but a missed diagnosis.
Even with Stage IV cancer, her Mammogram still came back clean...
How you ask?
I hope to add to this section to inform anyone that will listen
on how to (hopefully) prevent what happened to us, happen to you.
If you have a mother, wife, daughter, granddaughter, or are a woman
yourself,
please know that getting yearly Mammograms are simply NOT enough.
Be sure to do self exams often and insist on having anything abnormal
checked out.
Do not let anyone tell you it is nothing and to just monitor its progress,
that is a passive approach that may cost you dearly.
So what can I do?
Insist on getting any lump checked out with a Sonogram and Ultrasound,
no matter what the size or how silly some doctor thinks it is.
It is YOUR body, no one else is going to take care of it.
My wife now has Stage IV Cancer and we are in the battle of our lives.
She actually found a very small lump 3 years ago in the very same spot;
it was dismissed by our doctor after a Mammogram found nothing.
The Mammogram still does NOT show the cancer right now...
Take care of yourself!
My wife's diagnosis was too late, please don't let this happen to you!!!
Doctors often dismiss lumps as "nothing to worry about" or
"you are too young" and "we'll just keep an eye on it for a while".
Ask yourself if this was his body, would he dismiss it so easy?
You have to be pro-active with breast cancer to catch it early.
If you find something abnormal through self-examination
please, please, please go have it checked out with a Sonogram/Ultrasound.
It may save your life...
